Harry is a beautiful flat-coated retriever mix, who is solid black
except for a bit of white on his chest.  He's a petite fellow,
weighing 46 lbs., and being of medium stature.  Harry is a very
devoted, people-oriented dog.  He would do well as an "only dog" or
would do great with other dogs.  He is very easy-going and is happy in
any situation.  "I am a low energy, low maintanence type of guy who just
wants some lovins!  I listen to my commands and want to please.  I am
a loyal, devoted boy."   Harry is house and crate trained.  Harry loves to please his master and he is very nicely behaved.  He isn't hyper or demanding and is content to just be in your presence.  Harry will make a great family dog.  He is loving and very gentle- the little ones just love him!  Harry is fully
vetted, up to date on all shots, neutered, and ready for his forever
family. 

Violet is a beautiful black labrador retriever.  She is as sweet as they come.  Violet prances when she walks and she absolutely loves her people.  She is very affectionate and loving.  Violet is housetrained and cratetrained, and gets along well with other dogs.  She loves kids.  Violet is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, spayed, and heartworm negative. 

Tesla is a gorgeous Lab/Great Pyranese mix.  She is estimated to be about 1 1/2 to 2 yrs old. Tesla was an indoor dog before her family moved & couldn't take her. She adores cats, other dogs & kids. Sounds pretty perfect huh? Boy does she LOVE to play!  We're "fattening her up" a bit, and other than that, she is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, spayed, and heartworm negative. 

Snickers is such a sweet boy; he's got beautiful eyes, and a lovely coat.  He is as sweet as can be and loves kids.  Sparky is estimated to be 4months old.  He is a "Heinz 57," sporting a boxer look with some shepherd
and lab.  Dubbed the "wiggle worm", his wonderful temperment and
attitude are as expressive as his body language.  He is doing well
with potty training and sleeps thru the night with his 13yo foster brother/kid. 
Snickers' "happy-go-lucky" attitude will win over anyone who meets him.  He is well socialized with both large and small dogs and is curious with the cats.   He listens well and stays within the boundries of his yard.  Great with children of all ages as he
doesn't jump and just wants to smooch and nuzzle.  He is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, neutered, and ready for his forever home.  

Sparky could also be named "Mr. Happy."  Sparky LOOOOOOOOOOVES kids, loves life, loves everyone in the world. He is exceedingly friendly, esp with kids and people.   His CT Foster mom says:  "He is a happy go lucky little toot!  A quick learnier, he has already learned the electric fence, and sits ever so politely for his dinners.   He lives in a home with 2 young children and gets alsong fabulously with everyone he meets- both 2 and 4 legged!"

A note from Sparky:  "Hello hello hello. I am Sparky. Foster mom calls me Sparks as I have a sparklingly friendly personality. I dont know HOW I ended up at the pound, because I am perfect. I am a lab mix, about 5 months old, friendly, love people, love dogs and love walks, toys, playing, sleeping and eating. I NEVER get angry or aggressive. I just think life is too short to be grumpy. I am really really really cute.  Oh yes, and I am neutered, fully vetted, had 3 sets of shots and am microchipped. 

Petey is a beautiful 10 month old yellow lab mix.  Pete is just beautiful beyond words. This boy is full of energy and will play ball with you as long as you have the energy to keep throwing it. He loves kids, woman, men , he does not care , if you are going to love him he is going to love you right back. Petey loves to play ball; he'll pick up a yellow tennis ball, bring it to you, and instigate play.  He also loves to bring you toys to share.  Pete walks on a leash well, and is just as sweet as can be.  He will make a wonderful family pet.  Pete is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, neutered, and ready for his forever home. 

Roni got his name when his bed buddy became "Mac"....Mac and Roni - get it? ;)   He is about 4 months old and is a very fun, active boy who loves to play with toys, kids, cat or other dogs and loves to keep busy.  Roni is very loving and enjoys being with people & snuggling on the couch or by himself in his favorite chair.  Roni likes dinner time and is motivated and willing to learn new tricks or commands for a delicious treat! He walks well on a leash and he is crate trained and will potty outside with positive reinforcement. He spends most of his day in his foster mom's office with her at work and is a real favorite of all of her co-workers.  Roni is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, neutered, and ready for his forever home.

THE TEDDY BEAR CLUB

  

Hi!  I am Opal, MandyAndy's best friend.  I may look adorable, but I LOVE to play.  My best friends are my older canine friends and we spend all day playing and running.  I definitely need to be in a home with other playful dogs.  I love to be brushed and will require regular grooming, but my soft fur is hypoallergenic and does not shed.  I am really, truly special to my foster mom, as I have survived distemper and won. 

Hi!  My name is MandyAndy!  I am a shih tzu mix with a love for life!  I am about 7 months old and can play with the best of them.  My silky hair is hypoallergenic, and I love to be brushed.  I look like a little teddy bear, which makes me perfect for cuddling.  The shelter originally named me Mandy, because they thought I was so pretty like a girl, but I am 100% boy, so my foster added "Andy" to my name.  Will you let me be your living teddy bear?  We can go on so many adventures together!  I am neutered, microchipped, current on heartworm prevention, and vaccinated.

ADOPTION PENDING:  Chief is a beautiful yellow lab who is six years old.  Chief's owner unexplicably took Chief and his one yaer old brother Bear to the vet and asked the vet to euthanize both dogs.  She was horrified and asked that he sign the dogs over to her.  She could find no justification for euthanizing two healthy, happy, well-behaved labs. The vet contacted our rescue group and asked us to assist her in finding Bear and Chief new homes.  We were happy to help, and know that these dogs deserve nothing short of loving, devoted families.

EXCUSE THE "RED EYE!"  Just a photography glitch.  Stu is a beautiful white dachsund/chihuahua mix, estimated to be six months old.  Stu is a friendly, sweet little boy who loves to play and loves people.  Stu is housetrained, cratetrained, and gets along well with other dogs.  He has no aggression whatsoever.  Stu is quite a cute little guy when he warms up and seems very sweet and gentle.  He weighs 11 lbs. and you will notice that one ear is somewhat cocked to the side.  Stu is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, neutered, and ready for his forever home. 

Lola and Carmel are beautiful chihuahua/terrier mixes.  They are less than 10 pounds each, and are fostering in New Hartford, CT..  The girls are fully vetted, up to date on all shots, spayed, and ready for their forever families. 

What a wonderful dog!  Tessa is so sweet and so beautiful.  She is very people-oriented and very devoted.  She is great with other dogs, but would be just as happy as an only dog; she is flexible!  Tessa is housetrained and cratetrained and behaves very nicely in the house.  Tessa appears to have recently had a litter of puppies, but will be back to her girlish figure in no time.  She is a little underweight, but we will have no problem putting some much-needed pounds on this precious girl.  She is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, spayed, and heartworm negative. 

Trudy is such a sweet girl; she is about 6 months old, and is sweet and calm.  Trudy is new to our program and we will have a bio from her foster mom within a few days.  Trudy is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, spayed, and ready for her forever home. 

 Lucy is a precious toy fox terrier mix, who is estimated to be about 2 years old.  She is new to our program and we expect to have a bio from her foster mom within a few days.   Lucy is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, spayed, and ready for her forever home. 

Adoption Pending:  Ginger Martini is such a sweet girl; she is about 6 months old, and is sweet and calm.  Ginger is new to our program and we will have a bio from her foster mom within a few days.  Ginger is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, spayed, and ready for her forever home. 

Sarah is a sweet, affectionate, submissive puppy who is estimated to be 12 weeks old.  She loves tummy rubs and loves being held.  Sarah is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, spayed, and ready for her forever home.

Sylvan is a 5 yr old silver/chocolate lab; he is very sweet and loving.

Silver is a six year old silver/chocolate lab.  She is very sweet and loving. 

 ADOPTION PENDING:  Shaun is a lovely, sweet Golden mix, and as Golden's are famous for...he's very affectionate and playful.  Shaun is only 3 1/2 months old and already 31 pounds.  The vet says Shaun will be a big dog, which means there will be extra-large-love romping around, as this soon to be gentle giant of a love-bug has lots of love to give.  And, of course, Shaun, The Golden Boy loves to receive affection, too...! Shaun is a puppy, he'll need training, so that he can be a wonderful dog...he's smart and training will make him even smarter.   Shaun is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, neutered, and ready for his forever family to take him home!   Shaun deserves a loving home with a family who will cherish him.  Could you be that family? 

Muffy is a beautiful, sweet, wonderful black lab female, estimated to be about 2.5 years old.  She is such a good dog.  Adores her person  and is content to follow or lie next to him/her at all times.  Muffy loves other dogs, and loves people.  She is up to date on all shots, spayed, and heartworm negative, and will be ready for adoption by the end of the year.  Read Muffin's story on our Home Page.  Our favorite orthopedic surgeon is fixing Muffin up, so that she'll have a pain-free life ahead of her! 

Temperament: Paco is a very loving and kind boy with a submissive attitude.  He likes to play and run with her sister Lola.  He tends to jump on people when he wants to play, so be careful and continue to deter this behavior.  He’s currently in the ‘chewing’ stage.  Please give him as many chewing toys as possible so he doesn’t get bored and accidentally chew on something he shouldn’t.  He’s curious about everything and is easy to distract.  He loves treats and raw-hides.  

Surroundings: Paco is easily intimidated, especially with new people or new places.  He may freeze if he’s scared, so be gentle and try to convince him to move voluntarily.  Treats are always a plus, but may still require more persuasion to get him to move.  He gets scared of passing cars and unfamiliar noises or objects, such as sprinklers.  

Learning skills: Paco hasn’t had potty accidents in the house necessarily, so we can deduce that he was house trained.  He can’t however hold his necessities for more than 7hrs, so be mindful of that.  Paco has little to no experience walking on a leash and he tends to zigzag in front and behind the person while walking.  He knows the commands: ‘Sit’, ‘Come’, and ‘No’.  He’s alert and obedient and struggles a little bit during bathing time.

Paco is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, neutered, and heartworm negative. 

Madeline is a loving, devoted young girl; she was rescued from a pound and appears to have recently had puppies.  Madeline is very sweet, and only has eyes for her foster mom.  She spends all her time relaxing in the house and hanging out with her foster mom.  She easily attaches herself to loving caretakers, and longs for the companionship and love of an owner.  Madeline is housetrained, and gentle and easy.  She is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, and spayed.  We're not sure what breed(s) she is, but our best guess is that there is shepherd and lab in the mix!   The dermatitis above her eye is being treated successfully!

Sephronia is a very nice "senior" labrador retriever who has a lot of spunk, a lot of love to give, and a very nice, easy, gentle temperament.   

"SUPER FRIENDLY" describes Big Pappa.  He was wandering the streets, picked up by two kids, but turned loose again when their parents did not want him.  He ended up in a rescuer front yard (smart boy!).  His owners were never found.
Pappa is a black lab/great Dane mix, approx 2 ½ years old and weighs around 70lbs. He pulls the leash strong as soon as he walks out the door but then he calms down and walks at your own pace. He definitively has a sweet temperament and loves kids! He gets along with dogs of all sizes and does not chase cats.  Big Pappa has already been neutered, tested negative for heartworms, is microchipped, current on vaccinations and is on heartworm and flea preventative. All his vet records will be provided. If you would like to know more about Pappa, please let us know and we'll put you in touch with his foster dad, Allan.  

Shay and her sister Storm (the two photos above) are beautiful shepherd or shepherd mixes; they will be a year old in April.  The girls will be about 45-50 lbs. as adults.  They are both energetic, fun, playful girls; they crate well and they're house trained.   They were rescued from a terrible owner who kept them in the backyard and gave them very little attention or food.  They have been with the family who rescued them for over two months, and are now enjoying true family life, care, and compassion.  Shay and Storm would be good with small children as they are not mouthy at all and have wonderful temperaments.   They get along well with other dogs.  They are really into each other, and love being together.  They even chew on opposite ends of the same bone.  They like nylabones.   They would love to stay together, but can be seperated. 

Splendora and her shepherd brother, Pablo, were living on the streets for weeks when a nice couple finally were able to save them. Splendora is estimated to be about 6 years old. She's calm, sweet, easy-going, and independent. Splendora appears to have been a mom at some point in her life, and has a coat with some reddish and brown highlights. Splendora would love to find a wonderful home to call her own. She is very bonded to her brother Pablo, as he is to her. They can be adopted together or seperately. Splendora is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, and spayed.

Pablo and his black lab sister, Splendora, were living on the streets for weeks when a nice couple finally were able to save them. Pablo is estimated to be about 4 years old. He''s calm, sweet, easy-going, and independent. Pablo would love to find a wonderful home to call his own. He is very bonded to his sister, Splendora, as she is to him. They can be adopted together or seperately. Pablo is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, and neutered.        

ADOPTION PENDING:  Wren is just a perfect little girl who is estimated to be about five years old.    Wren is crate and house trained.  She also is very very dog friendly.  She seems fine with her foster mom's cats.  Wren does not jump on people at all and would never dream of "counter surfing" either.  Wren has the very best manners her foster mom has seen in a long time.  She says that she will lay in bed or snuggle on the couch with you and makes a perfect snuggie.  Wren does well on a leash and in the car.  She likes every person she has come in contact with!  Wren is fully vetted, up to date on all shots, spayed, and ready for her forever home.
